At the end of my 3D skin health assessments we always ask what our clients skin health goals are. One of the most popular answers is ‘I want to feel confident to go make up free!’ This also happens to be a real trend in the make up industry coming into Spring/Summer 2014.
Models on the catwalks of London, New York and Milan from designers such as Alberta Ferretti & Chloe, Christophe Lemaire, were seen (or rather not) with minimalistic make up & radiant, clear skin.
With either a strong lash, bright lip or shimmering lid but not all at the same time.
My belief has always been that make up should be used as it was intended to enhance beauty not cover up, change or misinterpret our natural beauty but to help us be a more confident being.
My tips for achieving this barely there look obviously start with skin health:
> It’s been said before but ill say it again and echo it. Efficient cleansing is the holy grail of clear, glowing skin. There’s no point in investing in expensive serums, creams or oils if you’re not prepping your canvas right morning and night. Yes that’s morning and night! So many clients that I see are not performing this correctly or using the right type of cleanser for their skin type/condition.
> Layer on your products before applying your make up base. Use serums and moisturisers generously to give a plump, dewy finish & even add a little oil over your foundation on cheek bones to reflect light & give an anti ageing illusion.
> Get a facial! I know I would say that right? But there are many who have never experienced the virtues of a good treatment by a professional. I love it when we get ‘facial virgins’ in our skin lounges. They quickly become regular visitors.
