1. Just Smile.
Have you ever caught a glimpse of yourself as you’ve passed a large shop window? Furrowed brow. Turned down mouth. Downward gaze. I have & it made me realise how old, miserable & unapproachable I looked!
One of the first things you can do to give yourself an instant facelift is to Smile! Not just when something makes you truly happy or laugh out loud but just because. Lifting the corners of your mouth at regular intervals during the day will give your cheek muscles (the buccinator love their name) a workout!
So be mindful about every minute of your day & check that you are wearing a wry little smile at all times.
2. Stand up straight.
Do you remember being told as a child to ‘Stand up straight?’ People who stand up straight exude confidence. So head up, shoulders back & down, add that Smile & you will be a confident, beautiful you.
3. Whiten your teeth.
We are so lucky now to have so many products available to us when it comes to this. You don’t have to spend a fortune on professional whitening treatments to get a result. Yellowing teeth will be ageing & don’t forget your bottom teeth too.
4. Wear a brighter blush.
By the age of 75 you have 50% less blood vessels so it’s not surprising that the skin looks paler & more sallow. Yes it’s important to have regular facials to boost the circulation to flood the skin with fresh blood, Oxygen & nutrients, but something you can do in between time is to change your blush.
Dusting off my make up artist skills, wearing a coral or peach tone will instantly add a dew of youth to your skin.
5. Get a new haircut—and let the hairdresser decide on the cut.
Give your hairdresser permission to update your look with a new hair style. They are the expert & equipped to know what will suit your face shape
6. Start using a product with Retinol, Vitamin A, on your skin—NOW.
Retinol (topical Vitamin A) is one of favourite skin health ingredients. It’s scientifically proven to smooth lines, wrinkles & skin texture. It repairs, rejuvenates & renews tired, damaged, lack lustre skin.
It can, however, be extremely irritating to the skin she used at high levels in its prescriptive format. That’s why I live Medik8 Retinol TR products as they are jojoba oil based & therefore very low on the irrigation scale. I use their 6TR serum 3-4 times a week at night under my moisturiser.
